Clearfield canola roster expanded for 2010

Posted: October 6, 2009

Next year's line-up of canola varieties featuring herbicide-tolerant options is expected to include the first juncea types with this trait, according to BASF Canada.

The company announced four new varieties for its 2010 Clearfield production system for canola, including the Brassica juncea varieties Xceed 8470 and Xceed 8571. Both offer increased stress tolerance, along with pod-shatter resistance that allows producers to straight-cut combine without swathing.

The other two varieties are BrettYoung 5525 CL, touted as the top yielding Clearfield hybrid ever tested in western Canadian recommending committee trials, and NX4-202 CL, which is a Omega-9 specialty oil variety.

More information on these varieties is available on BASF Canada's Ag Solutions website.
