Bayer CropScience hosts weed resistance conference
Posted: January 27, 2010
Bayer CropScience has jumped into the weed resistance issue in a big way, with the hosting of the first Pan American Weed Resistance Conference Jan. 19-21 in Miami, Florida.
That conference brought together some 200 scientists, universities and research institutions and practitioners from North and South America, according to a Bayer CropScience news release. Participants exchanged experiences in dealing with weed resistance and the opportunities for practical and sustainable solutions.
The effort was no doubt to profile Bayer's product lines and corporate commitment. However, there were also strong articles on the topic that were produced out of the event. Bayer CropScience has made these articles available on the web.
Canadian release for new nitrogen-fixing aid for pulses
Posted: January 27, 2010
EMD Crop BioScience announced the Canadian release of PulseSignal II, a new seed applied inoculant for pea and lentil growers.
The product includes naturally occurring molecules that speed up the recognition step between plants and rhizobia, which leads to earlier nodulation and nitrogen fixation, according to the company's news release.
"The earlier the nitrogen fixation process begins, the more there is available for plant growth and improved performance," says Cathy Soanes, North American Marketing Manager from EMD Crop BioScience Canada.
