Label expanded for Express Pro herbicide

Posted: April 20, 2010

Four weeds have been added to label for Dupont Canada's Express Pro herbicide, following the approval of the Pesticide Management Review Agency.

These include:

  • Cleavers (up to 8 cm) – residual control
  • Scentless chamomile (up to 8 cm) – control
  • White cockle (rosette) – control
  • Night-flowering catchfly (up to 8 cm) – suppression

"White cockle and night-flowering catchfly are two weeds that are up and coming problems, while scentless chamomile and cleavers are ongoing concerns," says Jon Gough, cereals product manager for DuPont Canada.

White cockle is spreading across the Prairies as reduced tillage becomes more prevalent, says the company. The weed is an "extremely heavy" seed producer, so it's important to control before it goes to seed. With Express Pro, Dupont Canada research shows growers can expect in the area of 75 per cent control, says Gough.

Scentless chamomile is another weed that's getting more attention throughout the West, the company says, especially in the black and gray-wooded soil zones View the complete Dupont Canada release.

The Simplicity herbicide label from Dow AgroSciences has expanded to include additional options for wheat growers, the company announced.

These options are based on expansions in several areas, including crops - winter wheat is now registered for fall and spring application - the weeds targeted, crop rotation flexibility, flexible rates and tank mixes, and adjuvants and surfactants.

Among the key options added, winter wheat growers can use Simplicity to suppress downy brome in the spring and control it in the fall. Spring wheat growers can use it to control Japanese brome and to suppress downy brome.
