One-stop information source produced by provincial agriculture ministries
The release of annual crop protection manuals that provide the label information for a wide range of pesticide products in one place is anticipated in provinces across Canada. These books provide up-to-date information on newly registered products, rate changes, new formulations and tank mixes.
In Alberta:
Crop Protection 2006, AKA The Bluebook, is 512 pages long and has a leaf-staging guide as well as a listing of the pesticide container disposal sites. This book can be ordered from the Alberta Agriculture Food and Rural Development publications office at 800-292-5697 or from their on-line order system and costs $10.

In Saskatchewan:
The 2006 Guide to Crop Protection is 369 pages and includes a section on weed resistance management and an easy-to-use tank mix chart. There is also a spring update available for label changes that occurred after the book went to print. It is available for free from local retail outlets or downloaded at www.agr.gov.sk.ca/docs/ crop/cropguide00.asp
In Manitoba:
The 2006 Guide to Crop Protection is 369 pages and includes a section on herbicide efficacy with low-drift nozzles. The Guide as well as the spring update is available from the Crops Knowledge Centre at 204-745-5662 at a cost of $10.00.
In Ontario:
Field Crop Protection Guide is updated biannually to provide the most up-to-date knowledge on pesticides and can be ordered from the OMAFRA Resource Centre at 888-466-2372 or on-line at a cost of $15.00.
